Of mixed Kiwi and Japanese descent, Natalie Ex, aka Excelle, has been seamlessly fusing together a myriad of musical genres for the last 17 years. Her sets are heavily inspired by 80s and 90s music nostalgia, spinning everything from disco, new wave, yacht rock and city pop - to RnB classics, house and garage.

Originally from New Zealand’s club and festival DJ scene, Nat quickly moved into hosting on community radio, and is just as comfortable piecing together the perfect down-tempo lounge set as she is keeping a dance floor heaving all night. 

A freelance graphic designer and illustrator by trade, Natalie approaches each gig with the same design sensibilities, taking musical inspiration from the unique energy of the venue and audience to freestyle the perfect collage of songs. Her passion as a DJ is to share her obscure music knowledge, but to never be too cool to drop fun, sing-along jams or hands in the air classics from 80s or 90s music to today.

Nat moved to Melbourne from her native Wellington in 2012. Since then, she has become a regular DJ across venues such as Black Cat, Howler, Workshop Bar, The National, and Lucky Coq. She has been lucky enough to share the decks with many musical legends such as DJ Krush, DJ Zinc, Jillionaire (Major Lazer), LTJ Bukem, Oneman, Mosca, Pearson Sound, Ikonika, Kode 9, Gaslamp Killer, Lorn and Samiyam.
